Moving on up..

For a while now Chris and I have been entertaining the idea of buying a house. With all the first-time-home-buyer programs we thought it would be easy peasy -- wrong. We don't have much, if any, money down, and it seems like no matter where we turn someone wants something. I guess I should have seen it coming, but with all the hype about it being the best time to buy a house, I totally didn't think we would need much down. Earlier today a friend of mine showed me a website for where I live that has information about buying a house. I called the number, spoke with a gal, and ended up signing up for a 2-day class on home ownership. We go tomorrow night from 6 through 8:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday same time. Apparently at the end of the "class" we get a certificate that's good for 2 years and will help us get into programs such as one where you only need $500 down plus whatever the inspection fee of the house is and you get 100% assistance (which would totally rock my socks).

We've lived in this apartment for almost 5 years (or maybe it has been 5 years; I've lost count), and it's time for a change. Between the retarded parking situation and my loud-ass neighbor upstairs, whom I call Clown Foot due to her relentless pounding up and down the stairs along with banging about in her apartment (sounds like a herd of elephants up there o.O), I'm at my wits end. Plus, having our own space to do as we please sounds very enticing to me.

So, that's where we stand: no down payment but hopes of owning a home with a certification class. I'll be thrice certified, and I can most definitely handle that.

Addiction Doesn't Cover It

Payday came around (not like I need that as an excuse to buy HK merchandise >P), so I decided to do a little shopping. Actually, right before payday I purchased two HK plushies (the fashionista and nerd one below) from eBay and then apparently was on a roll because honestly I could NOT stop myself from buying more and more. Somewhere they should make a HK/Sanrio Anonymous and I would totally join! Anyway, usually I allot myself some spending money each month on HK items and I think I pretty much met and/or exceeded that in a matter of 2-3 days. :D Continuing my splurge, I ended up dragging my husband (and he was soooo excited about it.. *sarcastic tone*) to this store in downtown Spokane called Boo Radley's. I had been complaining earlier about how there are no Sanrio stores where we live, something I do often haha, and he had looked up chains of stores on the Sanrio website and found this one little store that is an authorized seller. Of course I said we HAD to go and reluctantly he gave in. :D

I was a little disappointed when we got there -- I mean it's a cool store and they have a lot of neat things, but there was only one little stand for my addiction and of course I looked through everything! I must have spent at least 40 minutes eyeballing, touching, and debating over things. Despite what they had, or I should say lack thereof, I ended up sending about $45 bucks, hehe.

So the Boo Radley Adventure was Saturday; which brings us today, Sunday. After eating breakfast we headed out toward the Valley Mall to watch a movie (The Cabin in the Woods -- not a bad movie but could have been better). We had about an hour to kill before it started, so we ended up walking around the mall. There's this arcade in there that's called Tilt and sure enough, as we walked by I saw one of their game machines with the claw that had Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Kero Kero Keroppi plushies inside!! I badly wanted to play (I'm pretty good at those machines and have won my fair share of things from them) but neither one of us had any cash and/or quarters. I was very sad to say the least! So we walked on and ended up by Hot Topic. We walked around in there for a little while and by the clearance aisle and lo and behold! -- there was a Halloween Skeleton HK plush on sale! I scooped up that little gem, bought it and then we went back to walking around the mall. Finally, we came to Claires and of course my husband would not go in with me. I have to say -- for Boo Radley's being licensed to sell Hello Kitty as an authorized store, Claire had way more things to choose from. So I checked things out, picked out some stuff (you'll see it below) and then met up with Chris and watched the movie.

Now, it's time for some pictures of the loot!

Fashionista & Nerd Plushies! First I found the one with pink glasses and then the black ones and had to get both!

Haul from Hot Topic and Claires. The My Melody plush is my very first one!

Haul from Boo Radleys. I have to say the Year of the Dragon plush is my fave!

Back of the coloring book. I kinda wanna color the pages but I'm not sure... LOL
